Since its conception in 2003, STEP Faculty of Business & Management is working to promote the British vocational qualifications in Pakistan. These qualifications are offered at level 2 - 7 of National Qualification Framework (NQF) of UK, which are equivalent to Pakistani Intermediate, Undergraduate and Professional management courses.
The various qualifications offered by the faculty include BTEC Nationals jointly offered with Pakistani Intermediate in Commerce (I.COM) to give students a double award from Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) and London Board (Edexcel). Similarly, the B.A Honors in Management is a combination of Edexcel’s Higher National Diploma and the Top Up (Honors) year by Warnborough College UK.
I.Com is a two years programme approved by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore. Students study following subjects in year 1 & year 2 to achieve their I.COM.

I.Com at STEP is recognised both at local as well as international level. Students get double awards at the completion of their two years course; Intermediate in commerce from BISE and BTEC Nationals in Business from London Board UK.
BTEC Nationals in Business as part of STEP I.Com
The London Board BTEC National Certificate is a level 3 qualification taught in more than 140 countries to students after their ten years of education. It is 180 guided learning hours qualification that offers progress to graduate level qualifications anywhere in the world including Pakistan.

Further Academic Progression
This dual award programme (I.COM & BTEC Nationals in Business) enables students to move on to undergraduate programme not only in Pakistan but all around the world. STEP offers the UK progression route to complete Bachelors in Honors in Business & Management after this qualification. Individual counselling sessions are provided to guide students in choosing their further academic progression.
This three years degree programme offers an extremely well organised content related to all functional areas of management in relation to the local environmental needs, accepted and recognised internationally. The first two years has four semesters offering sixteen course units, a six weeks crash course on Key Skills (to familiarise learners with Report writing and Presentation skills) and a six weeks compulsary internship period. The last year has two semesters offering ten course units and an eight weeks research project.
Key skills are an integral part of all BTEC qualifications offered at STEP. These include:

An intensive six weeks orientation semester is offered during the first year to all degree students with the aim of familiarising them with Presentation skills, Report writing, IT Skills and understanding the assessment methodologies.
Entry requirements
GCE A Levels or BTEC Nationals or equivalent Pakistani qualifications (i.e. Intermediate with good English language proficiency).
Bachelors with Hons in Business / Commerce (i.e. local BBA, BCS, B.COM) are eligible to enter directly in the third year.
Assessment & Grading Systems
Edexcel’s assessment system is recognised internationally by employers and academia for their coherrence with industrial needs. Being vocational in nature, the qualifications provide ample opportunities to students to foster their competencies. Grades are awarded against set unit outcomes designed and monitored by Edexcel, UK. Students are mainly assessed through practical projects, research, presentations and reports. Process of Internal Verification is held before any grades are finalised and the final monitoring is conducted through the process of External Verification where a subject specialist is sent by Edexcel UK to verify the quality systems of the centres. Warnborough follows a similar pattern of monitoring through its annual quality audit and sample of students’ work is sent to UK before final awards are claimed.

Counselling Services
STEP Counselling Team provides all Business & Management students with regular counselling services about their academic and professional progression. Students who wish to apply abroad for studies are also provided with professional guidance.
Industrial experience and placements
Students are required to go through a continuos industrial exposure by closely observing the work environments during their studies. All academic course works and assignments require students to interact and research relevant industry where as representatives from different organisations deliver lectures and seminars as mandatory part of curriculum. A six weeks internship is compulsory for all students preferably during the second year, whereas a full time work experience is highly appreciated by external awarding bodies during the third / honors year of programme.

STEP in collaboration with SAEL Movement runs the programme “Knowing the Art of Success” in which celebrities and professionals from the business & corporate world share their success stories with students. These regular dialogues help in upgrading students' academic and professional exposure.
Unit Details
All unit specifications are written and set by the awarding bodies. It is mandatory for assessors to ensure all unit outcomes have been covered during the course of each academic semester. There are eight compulsary units and four optional units other than the four specialised units in the HND. The top up year has ten units and one research project.
