Teachers Training

This programme addresses the issues and challenges teachers face in their role of mentors and class administrators. It is about training teachers to respond directly to the learning needs rather than to curriculum. Teachers Training Programme is aimed at "creating a progressive culture rather than training an individual or group of individuals." Training sessions intend to increase efficiency and effectiveness of teaching and assessment methodologies being adopted in primary and secondary levels of education system.

What will I learn?

Module 1: Planning
The module aims to develop the skills that are necessary for teachers to identify the needs of a subject for a particular grade. They will be able to plan and divide the subject aims into daily learning aims of a session. Following these aims, teachers can easily plan what exactly they need to teach in a particular session and how different sessions interrelate and contribute to the overall learning objectives of a child.

Module 2: Teaching
The module aims to discuss a range of teaching methodologies and styles. The trainee teachers will be able to get a simulated experience of all the possible teaching practices, and will be able to critically evaluate their relative suitability and benefits. This will help them to choose the best practices that suit their subject, class and environment.

Module 3: Assessment
Assessments are the core activities that drive the complete education and learning processes. The teachers will be able to identify all the assessment methodologies and techniques, and their effectiveness for different purposes. Marking pupils' work and providing effective feedback will be taught as an essential element of the assessment processes.

Module 4: Communication Practices in teaching
Aim of this module is to enable teachers attaining a good knowledge of child's learning habits and abilities. This will help them understand the on-spot teaching and assessment requirements, and will be able to device their own methods to increase the productivity of their teaching sessions.

Module 5: Communication Practices in teaching
Effective communication in class room is vital for effective teaching. This module is aimed to enhance the communication abilities of the trainees, and explores wide range of communication practices that can increase the efficiency of a teacher.

English Language for Teachers (ELT)

STEP's ELT training course has a very practical emphasis and deals primarily with real skills and knowledge required by teachers in the classroom. These trainings will be a benchmark for teachers to enhance range of strategies to promote purposeful learning environment. Teaching Techniques

Teaching techniques covers areas such as classroom management, managing and creating equipments and teaching aids, evaluation and testing, teaching vocabulary, teaching receptive(reading and listening) and productive(speaking and writing) skills, games and songs in language learning, teaching individuals and beginners.

Language Awareness

Grammar Covers; word classes, simple sentence elements, complex sentences and clauses, verb time and tense, aspect and conditionals and modals, phrasal and voice.
Phonology Covers; phonemics, word stress and intonation, sentence stress and intonation, rhythm and intonation, and connected speech.

Thus ELT is the programme for teachers who seek to perpetuate high expectations of pupils and build successful relationships, centered on teaching and learning by fun and laughter. ICT for Teachers

Impact of Information Communication Technology (ICT) is continuously growing and is becoming an essential part of our individual lives. It is imperative for us to learn ICT so to take advantages of its opportunities and understand its effects.
ICT is concerned with the attainment, storage, management, elucidation and telecommunication of information and involves creating, collecting, organising, storing, processing and presenting information for specific purposes by electronic means.
For teachers, ICT is not only helpful for overall classroom management but also has a vital role in perpetuating the pupils learning capabilities. This training aims to stimulate and promote the use of ICT in order to support and expand learning opportunities.

AIMS

ICT Training programme is designed to meet the following aims;

to ease the burden of administrative procedures in educational institutions through the use of information technology
to enable teachers to monitor students' progress through the use of information technology.

Contents of the Session: ICT Training consists of five units;

Unit 1: ICT Skills for Classroom Teachers
Unit 2: Researching the Potential of ICT in Teaching
Unit 3: Use ICT to Plan, Deliver and Review Lessons
Unit 4: Use ICT in Subject Teaching and Learning
Unit 5: Use ICT for Administration and Workloads

What will I learn?

This course assists candidate to develop a range of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills which can be used to support teaching and learning within a classroom environment.

These skills will enable candidates to demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the implications and issues surrounding the management of ICT in a teaching and learning environment.

It will also allow the candidate to plan, implement and evaluate the use of ICT as a teaching tool to support the ways in which students learn. They will establish an interactive learning environment, supporting a range of alternative activities which maintain the students' interest.Candidates will be introduced to use ICT tools in such a way, which will improve the organisation of personal workloads and will reduce the administrative burden.

Teaching is most varied and challenging profession which welcomes people from all ages, from all backgrounds and stages of life.

Learners will need to demonstrate the attitudes and commitments expected of him/her as a teacher and specified professional requirements.

Proficiency in English Language

Eligibility:
Entrants should not have been excluded from teaching or working with children and young adults.
