STEP celebrated first anniversary in the bright colours and vibrant music of newly arrived spring … with the mega BASANT celebrations in the town. It was as elegant yet ‘musical' two days celebrations that also helped STEP in raising funds for victims of Asian Tsunami, held on Saturday, February 5 and Sunday, February 6, 2005 .
“Lights, Kites, Food and Music” … are the words that can recall the beautiful memories of the event. The whole premises of STEP was wrapped in traditional ‘basanti' shades of orange & yellows, with added beauty of folk lights & lanterns, the gorgeously decorated venue … with almost all white in black sky and lights all around, food that was simply delicious, the non-stop musical themes, rhythms and beats by our continuous DJ, along with traditional performances by dhol artists, classical performers, special skits & performances by Art & Design students, several pop groups and the ever beautiful voice of Surayya Khanum … that made the ‘Basant Festival at STEP' an ever lasting memory!
The Basant Night on Saturday evening was celebrated as a ‘family day' and youth / student day held on Sunday. Special STEP kites in different colours added glamour to the whole festivity. Families donated not huge but reasonable amount of funds for Asian Tsunami victims and we are extremely thankful for everyone who either donated or voluntarily helped in organising the function. Big thanks to all STEP students who became an end less support before and during the event, special thanks to our little guests from SOS Village and celebrities who once again supported us in making the event an ultimate success.
he function was ended with mesmerizing fireworks that surely marked the first anniversary celebrations of STEP. Needless to say … “STEP to lead … and rest to follow!!”
